Not a day goes by without news on the AI front. Yesterday, SoundHound AI acquired Amelia.
Amelia, a product spinout of IPsoft, was an early leader in conversational AI. While the company has not maintained the same level of market visibility since its 2020 rebranding, it continues to hold leadership positions in the latest Forrester Wave and Gartner Magic Quadrant.
SoundHound, a voice AI company that went public in a high-profile IPO in 2022, is best known for its ability to manipulate voice without transcribing it into text, enabling innovative use cases for in-car assistance or restaurant answering services.
With the acquisition of Amelia, SoundHound gains a significant edge in pursuing the enterprise market, propelling the company into a select group of conversational AI specialists with revenues exceeding $100M.
SoundHound has been on an acquisition spree lately, snapping up Allset in June and SYNQ3 last December.
In a rapidly evolving conversational AI market, where technological innovations constantly disrupt the landscape, the combination of SoundHound's voice expertise and Amelia's enterprise-grade AI capabilities is one to watch.
